Stronger at Home
Participating in sports is more than just a pastime. For many people, it is a way of life, a means to stay fit and healthy, and for some, a career. Unfortunately, injuries can occur and put a sudden stop to your aspirations, regardless of why you play. That's why we're committed to helping athletes develop resistance to non-contact injuries. While we cannot control every contributing factor, there are many that we can work together to improve, such as muscle imbalances, poor movement patterns, weak muscle activation, mobility, and stability. Regrettably, these crucial aspects are often neglected, particularly among young athletes.
At Stronger LLC, we're dedicated to changing that narrative by taking these skilled athletes and building their resistance to injury so they can perform at their best for years to come. We understand how busy life can be, especially for parents running their athletes between school, practices, games, and back, all while trying to maintain personal schedules and to-do lists. That's why we created Stronger at Home, individualized strength and conditioning programming that athletes can complete at home with a limited weekly time commitment. Here’s how it works:
-
The consultation is where we Stronger LLC coaches get to know the athlete. Getting a background on an athlete is very important for this program. You will be asked questions such as: What sport or sports does the athlete play? Do they have any prior or current injuries? Was the injury acute or due to overuse? Was the injury a non-contact injury? How long was the athlete out for? How often are they playing? How old is the athlete? Are they playing in the appropriate age group?
Understanding the athlete’s background will help us at Stronger LLC create the most suitable program for them.
-
The athlete will be taken through multiple movements that will be assessed and corrected. The movement screening aims to identify weaknesses, muscle imbalances, and mobility issues so they can be addressed throughout the programs. This will allow us to create a personalized program for your athlete with appropriate exercise selection and focus.
One of the main movements where we will spend most of our time is the squat. This movement is particularly important as it is directly related to how we move in any sport; jumping, landing, and changing direction, the squat tells the story.
-
A Stronger LLC coach will take the athlete and parent through the exercises for each programmed day. The coach will ensure that the athlete performs each exercise correctly and activates the appropriate muscles. After the athlete has gone through both of the programmed days with an understanding of each exercise, the coach will explain the progression of each week for the 8-week program.
There is no need to worry if you do not remember every exercise because you will receive videos for each assigned exercise.
-
Weekly check-ins will be conducted via email, text, or Zoom. We want to know if your athlete is struggling with a certain exercise, if the equipment breaks, if you have questions, comments, or concerns, and how the program is going altogether. Clear communication between athletes, parents, and Stronger LLC coaches is vital for the Stronger at Home program.
